Recent Posts Widget For Your Blog

Recent Posts widget
Many a times you must have seen people show their most recent posts in the sidebar. Here is how you can create your own Recent Posts widget for your blog.

From the Blogger Dashboard, go to the Layout section of your blog. Under the Page Elements page, add a Feed gadget. Now in the Feed URL, type in the following piece of code:

http://YOUR-BLOG-NAME.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

Be sure to change the BOLD letters to your blog name. Now click on Continue. On the next screen, you would be able to customize the title of your gadget, you can change it to something more meaningful like "Recent Posts". You can also modify the number of recent posts that you want to show, the maximum number being 5, you can choose to show the post date and source/author. The save it and place it where you want to on your template. Now whenever you would publish a new post, it would automatically appear on the Recent Post column on your blog.

Limitations:

There are 2 limitations to this hack.

1. It can show only a maximum of 5 recent posts.
2. Once you publish your post, it takes atleast half an hour to show your it under the Recent Post widget.

If these drawbacks are not an issue with you, then you can go ahead an add this Recent Post widget on your blog. Otherwise, if you scroll down to the bottom of my blog, you would notice that there is a Recent Post widget which displays 10 recent posts. In my next post I would share how to make such a widget to show your recent posts.

If you like this hack, then please consider subscribing to The Chronicles of R. It would help you to be updated about the latest articles that are being published everyday on The Chronicles of R. And don't forget to check out my sponsors on the sidebar, they help to keep this site up and running. Thank you.
