James Buchanan Ranked The Worst On Preidents Day

In 2000, C-Span conducted a ranking of all the Presidents of US for the first time. This year too, on Presidents Day, it had released a survey of American historians that ranks all the U.S. presidents in history based on merit/leadership.

In this ranking Abraham Lincoln had been ranked as the best President, whereas James Buchanan was ranked the worst by replacing Andrew Johnson. Buchanan's ineptitude from 1856 to 1860 is said to be the primary cause which lead to the Civil War. Although in 2000, Buchanan was ranked the 2nd worst while Andrew Johnson was lead the list from the bottom.

Here is the complete list of the C-Span survey for 2009.
